Paris to Strasbourg by Rail

A mother and son duo wanted to see Paris and Strasbourg by train. This is the 7-day itinerary I curated for them.

Seven-Day Paris to Strasbourg Itinerary

DAY ONE: ARRIVAL

Morning: Arrive at Charles de Gaul (CDG) and ride to hotel via your private car.

Afternoon: Relax and freshen up at your accommodations.

Evening: Enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants located in or around your hotel. A few recommendations are included in your map. Notre Dame is open until 7:30 pm.

DAY TWO: EXPLORE PARIS

Morning: Have un café and les crepes.

Afternoon: Visit the Musée d’Orsay with a dedicated entrance line. Afterwards, stroll the 1.4 miles to the port for your River Seine dinner cruise or get a lift.

Evening: Arrive at the port for your Seine River Dinner Cruise with Bateaux Parisiens. You depart at 6:15 pm.

DAY THREE: PARIS TO STRASBOURG

Morning: Tour the Palais Garnier. Entry begins at Noon.

Afternoon: Collect your bags and depart for Paris Est train station. It is a 6-minute ride from your hotel. Relax as you take in the sights during your 1.5-2 hour non-stop journey.

Evening: Arrive in Strasbourg. The train station is .5 mi from your next hotel. Walking or a lift is your best option. Check-in at Hotel Hannong and Wine Bar begins at 3:00 pm. After getting settled, walk 5 minutes to Place Kleber, the central square lined with shops and restaurants.

DAY FOUR: LE PETIT FRANCE

Morning: Have coffee and kugelhopf (a raisin-filled sweet bread) at a local cafe to fuel your day.

Afternoon: Walk through picturesque Le Petit France with its lattice of canals and half-timbered townhouses.

Evening: Have dinner at the House of Tanners, an Alsatian landmark and restaurant.

DAY FIVE: DAY TRIP TO COLMAR

Morning: Take the train south and spend a day exploring the Alsatian wine village of Colmar.

Evening: Have dinner at a local restaurant. A few recommendations are included in your Strasbourg map. Catch your train back to Strasbourg.

DAY SIX: FREE DAY

Suggestions: Visit Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg. Tour Cave Historique des Hospices de Strasbourg. Have dinner at a traditional Alsatian winstub like Chez Yvonne. Get lost and see what you find.

DAY SEVEN: DEPARTURE

Morning: Check out and head to the Lufthansa Bus Stop for departure. Your bus leaves at 12:00 PM. You will arrive home at 9:05 PM. Be sure to keep an eye on boarding times.
